Rappahannock River Yacht Club has several active fleets in the Club. Historically, there has been a very active Cruising fleet which hosts at least 10 cruises throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall sailing seasons. The Club cruises at least 1,000 nautical miles throughout the year. Check the Event Calendar for details about upcoming Club cruises.
In terms of racing, RRYC has had an active PHRF fleet and is the host club for the annual Hospice Turkey Shoot, the largest regatta on the Southern Bay, which takes place each October. RRYC has become the National club of choice for Cape Dory Typhoons and since 2011 has hosted the Cape Dory Typhoon National Championship regatta biennially. RRYC also hosts the annual Junior Regatta which takes place in July and has as many as 70 junior sailors racing Optis, Sunfish, 420s and Lasers.
In 2015, RRYC introduced a Kayak fleet which runs kayak paddle trips at least once a month throughout the year. Check the calendar for upcoming kayak events.
In 2016, RRYC introduced the Duffy fleet in response to the large number of Duffy cocktail boats located on Carter's Creek.
